Ballarat Independent Support offers art-based creative support sessions designed to assist NDIS participants to build confidence, develop skills and engage in meaningful activities.
Led by professional artist and independent support worker Leah Justyce, these sessions provide participants with the opportunity to explore creative expression through painting and visual art in a calm and supportive environment.
Sessions are participant-led and tailored to individual NDIS goals, with all art materials supplied.
Support can be delivered in the participant’s home or within the community depending on their preferences and support needs.
Support Activities
Creative support sessions may include:
• painting on canvas
• exploring colour, composition and creative techniques
• creating artworks for personal enjoyment or display
• developing creative hobbies and interests
• engaging in mindful creative activities
Activities are adapted to the participant’s abilities, interests and support goals.
No previous art experience is required.
Participant Outcomes
Art-based creative supports can assist participants to:
• build confidence and independence
• increase engagement in meaningful activities
• develop new hobbies and interests
• improve emotional wellbeing
• strengthen communication and self-expression
• develop focus and creative problem solving skills
These activities can also support participants to develop routine, engagement and personal achievement through the completion of creative projects.
How Sessions Are Delivered
• Sessions are participant-centred and interest led
• Creative activities are adapted to the participant’s abilities
• All art materials and equipment are provided
• Sessions can take place in the participant’s home or community
• Support is delivered in line with the participant’s NDIS plan goals

Leah Justyce is an independent support worker based in Ballarat and a professional artist with over 25 years of experience creating and selling artwork internationally.
Leah combines her experience in the arts with a strong focus on participant wellbeing, skill development and meaningful engagement.
